Don't be afraid to use things in unexpected ways...

Tea towels as curtains.

 An oriental rug in the laundry room or bath.

A bookcase or dresser in your kitchen for extra storage.

    Love the idea of the tea towels. Might actually use it during the winter months on our kitchen windows for a bit more privacy. But, love it is permanent.
