February Lessons

Some of my favorite bloggers have started a fun link party The Best of the Nest. I entered the beginnings of my family gallery wall via Instagram. The photos have been sorted through, framed, and matted. Next, is to get them up on the wall. It's so nice to be able to see their precious baby-ness and bring up all those good memories. Go check out the rest of the best or if you are in it, leave me a comment with link so I make sure to come see your project!  :)

Chatting at the Sky's Emily (sister of the Nester) is hosting a link-up "What We Learned in February".

Now that I've had a few days to ruminate on the subject, I realized I learned a lot of good stuff last month:

  • The reason that tilted lampshades and things out of place bugs me so much has a lot to do with my ENFJ personality. I also learned that the man I am marrying has the kindest personality type... not at all a surprise to anyone who has ever met him :)
  • The secret identity of Andy's mom and that Toy Story has the power to affect me even when I'm not actually watching one of the movies. {I'm not the only one who sobbed through the last one, am I??} We are now on a Toy Story movie binge to prove the theory to ourselves.
  • There are days (maybe weeks) when your work will not be exciting, fulfilling, or rewarding, and that's okay. Just keep showing up. I especially like these tips from the hospitality industry, which can be adapted to just about any job (including the stay-at-home kind).

  • Pema Chodron's When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice for Difficult Times can be read--and learned from--in good times. I especially like this idea "Only to the extent that we expose ourselves over and over to annihilation can that which is indestructible be found in us." What is indestructible in you?
  • I can live without coffee. Once I got past the caffeine withdrawal headaches, my newly-developed chronic reflux all but disappeared. Now to see if I can successfully give up sugar...
  • That sometimes my "nutso" ideas (like inviting a friend to teach yoga in my living room) can have benefits for myself and others. I also learned that tree pose can help you grow roots during the storms of daily life.
  • Similarly, I learned how developing the habit of mediation can be so useful in becoming your best self.
  • And, that Clarissa Explains It All / Sabrina, the Teenage Witch and I will share a wedding date! She married her husband on July 19, 2003.
Did you learn anything last month that you want to share? Are you part of the Chatting at the Sky link-up? Please leave a link to your post if you have one.  :)
