High Five ORC Friday

TGIF!!! Here are my five favorites for the week, otherwise known as the "High Five."

1. One Room Challenge Line-up
http://www.callingithome.com/2014/10/one-room-challenge-week-1.html

Have you seen the line-up for this year's One Room Challenge?! I cannot even believe all of the amazing talent. For real. It is over the top. I have only gotten a third of the way through the top 20 and am blown away by all of the inspiration. Thankfully, it's going to be a rainy weekend here and I'll be able to binge blog-read my way through the rest.

2. One Room Challenge Link-up
This is the One Room Challenge that I am participating in: the Linking Party. As of this morning, there are 91 other blogs playing along. It's chock full of talent and friends that I've made through blogging, and I cannot wait to check it out fully, too!!

3. Linda
Can I get an amen for all that Linda of Calling it Home does?! She created the One Room Challenge, which is trademarked, and has grown it into a mega-force. She also has to be one of the most encouraging supporters of blogs. Before anyone else was reading this crazy little blog of mine, she was here: commenting, google friend-connecting, showing me how it's done. I call her my blogging fairy godmother, and I'm sure lots of others could too.

4. Getting (sh)it done
Yes, the linking party is for everyone (with a blog). If you want to get in on the Linking Party, you still have time. The personal rewards of doing so are HUGE. I wasn't sure that I was going to do it last spring and jumped in at the very last moment. Having that one small area of my home decorated (even though it's not done-done; is design ever really done??) is such a good feeling! The ORC is so successful in that way because it forces me to focus on just one room at a time. I also have met so many great, talented blogging friends who inspire me and make me feel like I could go anywhere in the U.S. and have a kindred spirit to shop with! :)

5. A Bowl Full of Lemons
Likewise, I am enjoying the organizing blog A Bowl Full of Lemons' 31-day series on purging our homes. Every day Toni assigns a new task: today is dresser drawers. Yesterday was magazines and catalogs; Wednesday was expired food items in the pantry. The assignments are bite-sized and address common problem areas. I like that I don't have to think about what to do; each day is its own special prompt. You can even post your progress to Instagram and/or Facebook for more fun accountability.

Wow, my house is going to look amazing in a few weeks! If I ever get off this computer... ;)

Have a great weekend!!
