The Chair That Hugs You Back

Usually when it comes to chairs, I have a "type." Sleek-lined, usually modern, not particularly comfortable.

Just when I thought I was moving on from the 80's, I've developed a crush on a different kind of chair. It's hit me hard like Marty McFly's DeLorean slamming into the space-time continuum.

Swivel Barrel Chairs. Their rounded backs make me think that sitting in one would feel like a giant HUG. And hugs are always nice. :)

The scalloped backs of this pair really evoke the 80s, don't you think?

Here's a modern version in leather. The arms are a bit on the T. Rex side for me but obviously completely gorgeous.

The Jake Swivel Chair

This style of chair is generally associated with Art Deco and Hollywood Regency styles and can be found by other names like "tub" or "bucket." My preference is for the ones that swivel. Because how much fun is that?!?

A few examples of this style in some modern, beautiful rooms.

OK, the chairs in this designer-showcase room have the straight-backs I generally love but are getting there, with sloped sides and visible swivels.

Bam! Now these swivel barrel chairs are my everything. Check out how they function with someone sitting in them.

Totally comfortable, right?

Not sure who designed this room but the coral-colored chairs are perfect!

The bold graphic pattern of the upholstery on this chair is modern and classic at the same time.

But, with all things, only time will tell if this little crush of mine will turn into lasting love... What do you think? Are these the next peacock revival?
